If your spouse or domestic partner is eligible
for medical benefits through their employer’s group health plan, he or she must
enroll in their employer's plan in order to be covered as a dependent
under the TASEBA health plan. If
enrolled under the TASEBA health plan as a dependent, payment of benefits
under the TASEBA health plan will be secondary.
“The spouse or domestic partner of an employee
covered by the TASEBA health plan, so long as that employee has not
experienced a "qualifying event" as that term is defined in 29 U.S.C.
1163 (COBRA), who is eligible for medical benefits in the spouse's or domestic
partner's group health plan, must
enroll in the spouse's or domestic partner's group health plan within
twelve (12) months of first becoming eligible or during the open enrollment
period for the group health plan, whichever comes first."
